The Changes refers to a children's science fiction tv serial of the same name, first broadcast in 1975 on the BBC. It posits a Britain where a sudden enveloping noise emanating from all machinery and technology causes the population to destroy them. Stills from the programme were collaged to create the sense of a technical glitch, furthering the idea of a non-linear narrative within the programme. These images were translated from film camera to computer screen to etching plate, undergoing several transformations in quality. The aim of this set of works was to create images that could be explored through considering their density and porosity, conditions brought about through the medium of print, as opposed to describing them only in terms of light and darkness.
